Human Rights |
by Benjamin Creme’s Master |
The question of human rights is at the centre of modern man’s problems. In the past, the social structures dominated the lives of the individual and set up a hierarchical series of relationships in which everyone knew his place: the wife obeyed the husband; the man obeyed his lord; the lord obeyed and carried out the will of the king; while the clergy acted as intermediaries between God and man. These relationships, while artificial and imposed, served the needs of societies struggling to find their identities and place in the world. |
Today, all of this is changed. Apart from a few areas in which the ruling groups cling to the old forms, often at the cost of civil dissension and war, the peoples have asserted their right to self-determination. They have taken upon themselves the responsibility for just government and by various procedures of representation can make their wills known. More than ever before, the peoples are calling for a closer participation in the decisions affecting their lives. |
This new freedom has set up a number of tensions which await resolution. Everywhere, the cry for more freedom sounds forth — answered by an equally strident call for order and the rule of law from the groups concerned with maintaining the existing structures. Altogether new approaches are required to harmonize the aims of these opposing groups. That such harmony may be slow and difficult to attain must be accepted. That many conflicting viewpoints must be reconciled is self-evident. Yet while we await the solution of these problems it might be advisable to set down some basic principles, some guidelines, without which the problems may appear to be intractable. |
The first consideration is that the laws governing society should be fair and applicable to everyone. Without such basic justice and impartiality no one can be expected to observe the law. Frequently, today, there is “one law for the rich and another for the poor” — a certain recipe for social strife. A further need is for the laws to be known and understood and couched in language accessible to all. Too often are men held prisoner, and judged to be guilty of breaching laws long outmoded and known only to specialists. |
The greatest need is for an ever closer identity of interest between the individual and society; only thus can the freedom of one and the stability of the other be preserved. How can this best be achieved? |
The United Nations Organization has formulated a code of human rights which, if implemented, would go far to resolve the existing social tensions, and to provide the basis for a just and stable society. So far, this Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains but a dream for millions of dispossessed and disfranchised people in every country in the world. The aim must be to establish, with all possible speed, these basic rights in all nations. |
With the acceptance of the principle of sharing this becomes possible. No longer need men fight for the right to work, to feed their families, for a measure of control over their destinies. At a stroke, the acceptance of sharing will heal the divisions, end the confrontations and cure the malady of the present situation, leading men out of the morass in which they have foundered. Make sharing then the goal of your endeavour. Show that the world now needs, more than ever in its history, the establishment of this just and basic principle, through the acceptance of which alone man will find and demonstrate his divinity. |

Karma, a reckoning and the law – an end to impunity
|
|
“… Call it what you will – karma, cause and effect, the swing of the pendulum, action and reaction – whatever the term, the fact is that there is always an effect, an equal and opposite reaction. This is a law of physics, of the natural world. It is also the great Law governing all life and all relationship on our planet and it works on all levels.
|
Maitreya made a series of forecasts to provide guidelines and insight into natural law. These forecasts [in The Laws of Life] were given primarily to illuminate the Law of Cause and Effect. By comprehending and working within this law, Maitreya says, we can resolve the present social, political, economic, and environmental crises. What an inspiring and extraordinary thought – living within the law of karma provides in itself a solution to our terrible problems.
|
The Master Djwhal Khul writes in The Externalisation of the Hierarchy: ‘As to Karma, what man has made he can unmake. This is oft forgotten. Karma is not a hard and fast rule. It is changeable, according to man's attitude and desire. It is the presenting of the opportunity to change; this grows out of past activities, and these, rightly met and correctly handled, lay the foundation for future happiness and progress.’
|
It may not be ‘hard and fast’ but it is inescapable. There must always be a reckoning. For the world to advance, justice must come. … The perpetrators will inevitably have to be held to account – not in hatred or retribution but as a rebalancing and acknowledgement of karmic debt that must be paid – if justice, the law and freedom are to be reinstated as the bedrock of international and national culture.
|
To return the global community to both Divine Law and man-made laws requires, as BC’s Master expresses it, ‘an ever closer identity of interest between the individual and society; only thus can the freedom of one and the stability of the other be preserved.’ We need to end ‘atomization’ – born out of the old Piscean era – and embrace our interconnectedness; identification with the whole will save all of the parts.”

Sharing – the first step into Divinity |
“ | …Maitreya is speaking about sharing, justice, freedom and about right relationship. They are all divine principles. Freedom, justice and right relationship are at the basis of life and make for correct relationship between peoples and between nation and nation. It is competition that leads to war and prevents right human relationship from evolving. The creation of correct relationship is the next step forward in our evolution. When you have that you have the beginning of true divine life. The first step into sharing, says Maitreya, is the first step into your divinity. What could be simpler or truer? |

A group of Share International co-workers have launched this new initiative on Substack to maintain the climate of hope to fulfill Maitreya’s request of us. Critiquing political positions and events is rampant in the media, yet this approach is a self-defeating downward spiral that gets us nowhere we want to go. So their team is showcasing the hope that comes from knowledge of the Masters’ presence and perpetual guidance. To receive announcements of each article as it’s released, sign up as a free subscriber here. You are also invited to submit to this platform your own unforgettable experience with Maitreya, the Master Jesus, another Teacher, or an event that left you in no doubt that we are divinely guided through this perilous journey called life. Click here to submit your letter to Voices of the New Time.

Group Consciousness
The New Age is the age of group consciousness, not simply working together as a group, but thinking and feeling and experiencing together in group consciousness, total oneness. This is unknown to humanity as yet. The Masters of Wisdom, on the other hand, have only group consciousness. The separate self does not exist in Their consciousness. Working together in groups gives humanity experience in developing that group consciousness. Humanity itself, of course, is the major ‘group’. We are all part of that group. At the moment we live separated and divided lives, but in this coming time we shall work as a group. In fact, if we do not, if we cannot realize and express, through our structures and institutions, the inner unity or group reality of humanity, we shall destroy ourselves.
